I even loved working on my BFA. My first year, I had a cool teacher named Dave (We couldn’t pronounce his full name) for drawing. He is a talented artist, and I liked the way he kept class relaxed and laid back. We always had music (that we brought) playing on his little paint stained boom box during class. He joked around with everybody, and he liked learning about us and teaching us about him. (He was from another country and shared stories about growing up there.) When I saw that he was teaching Design 1, I couldn’t wait to sign up.
What I liked best about his class was his attitude about art. He became so serious and firm whenever he talked about art. This was his passion and his work. He expected us to be equally responsible and take our work seriously too.
My favorite memory is of the day another professor walked past our class. (Dave always left our door open.) The music drifting into the hall caught his attention, and he noticed how much fun we were having. He stuck his head into the classroom and announced, “This class seems more like a party than a classroom.” (It was a work day, not a critique day.)
Dave and our class just laughed it off. We were used to that kind of reaction. We knew we were serious about our art, but we were having fun too. Now, I’m a struggling artist out in the world, and it can be pretty hard at times. But it’s the best job ever. I want to share a website with you that I’m so glad I found. It has been such a blessing in more ways than one.
I became a member of Redbubble.com last year. If you’re an artist looking for a FREE place to sell your work, this is a fun place to go. You can also see artwork from talented artists from all over the world. When you visit the other artist’s portfolios, you’re guaranteed to learn so much and get inspired. You can give and take constructive criticism. And best of all, you can sell your artwork!
If you love art and want to browse some awesome stuff and see an affordable price tag, then this is the place for you too. I’ve already seen so many pictures I want to buy! I want to share 3 of my favorite photos with you:
