Inktober Day 9 – Watch
I started to draw this pocket watch from Titanic but I lost interest. So then I decided to do a little master study of Satan Vanquished by Gustave Dore. Those angels might be The Watchers. It’s not great looking but it was really good practice.

Sooo, today’s word was Fan and I decided to go with the Japanese folding fan because they’re so pretty. I’d actually like to explore this idea further.
Inktober Day 6 – Spirit
It was a busy day so I tried to do some sketches. This first one is a bottle of Gin with a Djinn escaping. Might be a fun idea to explore some more.
I had fun drawing these next ones. Who doesn’t love a good alien abduction story? I know I do lol.
And sketches from the movie Spirited Away. I watched that about a year ago with my boyfriend. He watched it as a kid and wanted to see if it’d freak him out now like it did then. It was kinda weird.
That night I had a dream caused by that movie and just now while drawing I remembered that dream and felt all weird. Our favorite line was when that spider dude said, “She’s my granddaughter.” We laughed so hard lol. And his little black pom pom spider worker boys are so cute.
And finally, the one I put on Instagram this morning. It was my original idea. It’s a Ghost Tequila bottle. I thought the ghost design was cool and it gives me double for the word spirit. Well, that’s all folks. Tomorrow is fan. Another word that doesn’t have me all fired up.
That’s So Raven . . .
Who else liked that show? It was one of my favorites. Sing with me now, “That’s so raven (it’s the future i can see)

That’s not the point though. The point is Cinco de Inktobre. I wasn’t that excited about today’s word. My expectations were so low I didn’t even use fancy paper. Poor thing didn’t even get it’s own dedicated page.
I wish I would have used better paper cuz it turned out looking pretty cool.

Tabitha’s Secret and A Drippy Inky Butterfly
Anyone know Tabitha’s Secret? Before they were Matchbox 20. I wanted to hear the song Just Plain Tired cuz that’s what I am lol. I’m still managing to make some art though.
And a good walk for Sunny Bunny.
I love the sound at the beginning of the song. And at 2:22. And the way he sings at 3:30.
Los Retros and Flaming Fruit
I’ve been liking this group Los Retros. I just keep replaying Someone to Spend Time With.
Tattoo inspired cherries and some flaming fruit.
Oh, and this is the song that led me to finding Los Retros. Lil Rob – Sunday Night.
Pen Drawing Skulls & Cute Ghosts to Ghostemane
I’ve been hooked on these two Ghostemane songs lately, Mercury and John Dee.
A lot of his songs have been put to these old Fleischer cartoons. They fit so perfectly with his music. I really like the artwork of the skeletons playing poker and it made me wanna draw some skulls and ghosts.
I like that green skull balloon . . . he looks like he’s smilin’ real big for the camera.
Someone told me to listen to a Lil Darkie song, which was pretty alright and I liked the video that goes with it. But that’s how I came across Ghostemane. Who else can’t get enough of that beat?
Zentangle Practice and Movies
They’re not all zentangles but that doesn’t matter.
I like drawing stuff in little squares. Usually, I don’t like being boxed in, but these provide a nice small space to practice in or to sketch out ideas.
Who else is a Shameless fan?? I got the Showtime free trial so I didn’t have to wait for it to show up on Netflix. Well, I missed the cancel deadline by an hour, so I’m paying for a month But YAY they offered me another 30 days free after that.
So, I figured I’d watch some movies. And I love having movies on in the background while drawing.
Who else misses going to Hastings and looking around? I loved it. And I feel like I watched more movies back when I had to go rent them or buy them.
Quick movie review . . .
Becky – This has Kevin James playing a different type of character than I’m used to. It was ok. Kind of a B movie Home Alone story, cuz she creates traps and goes after the bad guys. I still have 25 minutes left. Doubt I’ll find out how it ends lol.
Dead Water – It’s alright, has Casper Van Dien. Another one with 25 minutes left. I don’t actually care how it ends, but I drew a little boat while watching it.
The Machinest – OMG this movie disturbed me as soon as I saw Christian Bale. He didn’t look like himself. He was a skeleton. I have 37 minutes left. I sorta wanna finish it but what’s the point? I’ve been disturbed enough lol.
Cold Brook – I picked it because it has Kim Coates from Sons of Anarchy and a guy who was on Prison Break. The reviews were positive but I got bored fast. 82 minutes left.
Don Jon – I didn’t actually draw during this one. It wasn’t too bad. And the ending wasn’t disappointing.
I guess it’s a good excuse to watch a bunch of movies but I think they help to inspire ideas. Especially, when you do more than just watch it. Pay attention to the lighting, the directing, and all the other parts of it.

Birthday Dessert Drawings
My boyfriend’s birthday was yesterday and my birthday is tomorrow so I wanted to share some dessert drawings. I love how our birthdays are close together. It makes it feel even more special.
This is a sketch I did on trash printer paper. Just getting a feel for the shapes and warming up.
The main reason I chose to draw desserts is because I think cupcakes are so cute. This one is drawn using graphite pencil and sketchbook paper.
This is a drawing of an image of macarons I found on google. I’ve never tried this dessert. I’ve heard they’re not very good. I just think of Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl, eating them in the bath tub while she pouts about her many problems.
I initially just wanted to draw cupcakes but then I wanted to draw cakes, doughnuts, and other desserts too. They look so delicious. I wont be having any of these desserts for my b-day though. I’ll be having Pizza Pie from Pizza Hut 😂.
These sketches are done on hot pressed watercolor paper. It was my first time using this kind of paper, and I love how it felt. It was also my first time using Inktense pencils. So, I was just playing around with mixing and determining how much pigment to use. Very little pigment goes a very long way with Inktense.
This cupcake was drawn on tan paper using Polychromos colored pencils. I put more effort into this drawing than the others. I used a photo of a cupcake as reference (link at the end of the post) but I made a few changes to make it my own and not outright copy the image.
I blended everywhere except the background and the surface the cupcake is sitting on. I love the way colored pencils look. Also, I accidentally used Inktense on the cake part where it’s really dark.
I’ve been wanting to draw cupcakes for a long time, and I finally did it. It was fun and maybe I’ll draw some more again soon. Any other September babies out there . . . Happy Birthday to you too!
